EDITORIAL STANDARDS

How we earn the reader’s trust.

Travel details change. Memories are subjective. Our job is to be clear about which is which.

We were there.

Experience, photographs, and opinions come from a completed family trip. We still verify changeable details before publication.

Useful, but not fully tested by us.

Information comes from current sources. We do not present recommendations as personal experience when they are not.

A plan, not a review.

Ideas and comparisons for a journey that has not happened yet are labeled until the trip is complete.

Review scores

Our sailing reviews use a five-star scale, with half-star increments from 1 to 5. A blank rating means we have not rated that category. The overall experience rating is our own assessment, not an average of the category scores. A ship’s family average is the arithmetic mean of the overall experience ratings from its rated, published sailings. Unrated sailings do not count. These are our family’s opinions; the written explanation matters more than the number.

Affiliate relationships

Affiliate links will be disclosed clearly. A commission never changes a score, suppresses a disappointment, or turns an untested product into a recommendation.

Corrections and updates

Information that can change carries a review date. Material corrections will be made transparently. Readers may contact us if they spot something that needs another look.

Family privacy

We do not post real-time travel locations, school information, reservation numbers, documents, precise home details, or unnecessary identifying information about our child.
